How auctions work

From browsing to pickup — what happens at each step of a RideAuction sale.

  1. Browse upcoming auctionsSee what is scheduled and when preview, bidding and closing happen. Browsing is free — no account needed.
  2. Preview units and review detailsPhotos, condition, the seller’s disclosures and the unit’s location — fixed when RideAuction approved the unit.
  3. Bid or buy when the auction opensVerified Ride dealers bid, set a Max Bid, or buy Buy Now units outright. You review every bid before it counts; accepted bids are binding.
  4. Win the unitThe highest bid when the lot closes wins — on a Reserve unit, once its reserve is met. If a bid comes in with less than 2 minutes left on a lot, that lot’s clock resets to 2 minutes — every time.
  5. Complete post-sale stepsYour purchase page shows the invoice, the documents and exactly what to do next.
  6. Arrange pickup or deliveryPick the unit up yourself, name a transporter, or ask for RideAuction delivery. The unit is released once your payment is confirmed.
Bidding rules in detail
  • Scheduled sales. Each auction has a preview, then a bidding window, then lots close one after another in lot-number order.
  • Who can see and bid. Anyone can browse every published lot. Bidding is for verified Ride dealers; Premium lots can be bid on only by dealers approved for RideAuction buying.
  • Fixed details. Each unit’s details, photos and the seller’s disclosures were fixed when RideAuction approved it; they do not change afterwards.
  • Reserve or No Reserve. A Reserve unit sells only if bidding reaches the seller’s private reserve. The lot shows “Reserve met” or “Reserve not met”; you never see the amount, and it never stops a bid from being accepted. If your Max Bid is at or above the reserve, RideAuction raises the current bid to exactly the reserve for you (never above your Max Bid). A No Reserve unit sells to the highest bidder.
  • Canadian dollars. Every bid, fee and price on RideAuction is in CAD.
  • Bidding. While a lot is open, its page shows the current bid, the minimum bid and whether you are WINNING or OUTBID. You enter an amount and confirm it; every accepted bid is binding. Other bidders are never named. Each lot closes at its own time.
  • Max Bid. Enter your Max Bid and RideAuction bids for you by the bid increment, only as much as needed to keep you in the lead, up to your maximum. Your maximum stays private. Only accepted public bid amounts appear in history; dealership identity follows the approved verified-dealer visibility policy. If the current bid is $30,000 and your Max Bid is $35,000, the current bid becomes only what is needed to lead; RideAuction answers later bids for you up to $35,000. If two bidders set the same maximum, the one accepted first keeps the lead.
  • Jump The Bid. Places your whole Max Bid as the current public bid at once — you confirm it first, and it cannot be undone.
  • Watch List. Star a lot to follow it in My Watch List (scheduling, bidding, extensions, closing). Watching is not a bid. Auctions set up before Max Bid existed keep manual bidding: there you bid exactly the amount you enter.
  • Bid steps. Bidding starts at the lot’s starting bid (at least $100). Each new bid must beat the current bid by at least the step for its price range:
    • $100 to $10,999 → $100
    • $11,000 to $15,999 → $250
    • $16,000 to $25,000 → $500
    • $25,001 and above → $1,000
  • Buyer fee. The standard buyer fee is 9.5% of the winning bid, at least $250 and at most $7,500, paid on top of the winning bid. A unit that needs title or registration documents also has a processing fee of CAD $185. Each auction page shows the exact fees fixed for that auction.
  • Last-second bids. If a bid comes in with less than 2 minutes left on a lot, that lot’s clock resets to 2 minutes — every time. Only that lot moves; other lots keep their times.
