How auctions work
What is this?
Regular auctions follow their event schedule and lot order. A 60-Minute Auction has its own single-unit opening and initial one-hour bidding window; later stages or extensions can change its final close.
How does it work?
- Browse units (List and Map) shows every unit you may see in one place: units in regular, scheduled auctions and units in published 60-minute auctions. A 60-minute unit carries a “60-minute auction” badge, its own stage (Scheduled, Live, Extended or Closing) and a server-timed countdown to bidding opening or to the end of the current stage; “View 60-minute auction” opens its 60-minute auction page, where bidding, watching and advance maximums happen. Use the Auction type filter — All, Regular auctions or 60-minute auctions — to narrow the List and the Map; it is kept in the address, so a shared or refreshed link shows the same results, and every other filter (keyword, type, make, province, year, price, bids) applies to both kinds. Prices stay $$$ unless your dealership is approved for buying. One auction’s own unit list and map show only that auction’s units.
- Upcoming Auctions on the homepage previews up to four regular auctions, in the existing live/upcoming order. On wide screens, one, two, three or four cards expand evenly across one row; smaller screens stack or wrap them for readability. Choose View all auctions beside the heading to see every available auction. Grid and List both keep the four-preview limit; the separate 60-minute section retains its own six-card limit.
- Homepage cards show the auction name and unit locations first, photos in the middle, then schedule milestones. The highlighted countdown sits just above the action button on each card. It follows server time; reaching zero prompts a status refresh and does not itself authorize bidding. Short accent animation respects reduced-motion settings.
- Preview: see every lot and its details; bidding is not open yet.
- Live bidding: bid on any open lot you are allowed to bid on.
- Lots close one at a time, a fixed interval apart (shown on each lot).
- A bid in a lot’s final 2 minutes resets that lot to 2 minutes.
What do I need to do?
- Use Grid for photo-led cards or List for a compact desktop overview; phones keep a readable stacked layout. The large photo and thumbnails are real auction preview photos, not a claim about inspection or featured status. View on Map on a card opens only that auction’s units; the section Map View opens the available section map. Unconfirmed map locations remain listed without a pin. The 60-minute section map shows the same maximum six eligible homepage auctions. Opening a map never places a bid. Home uses the auction gavel icon; View all auctions remains beside the section heading. Each regular card shows its status once. Next auction uses a green indicator with a subtle pulse; reduced-motion preferences keep it still. Live, preview and closing status remain accurate.
- From the homepage, choose Browse All X Units to open only that auction’s eligible inventory, or choose Go to Auction when bidding is live. Auction prices are shown only to approved dealers with buying or bidding access.
- Open the auction and check each lot’s closing time.
- Watch the lots you care about.
What happens next?
When a lot closes it shows its result: Sold, Reserve not met or No bids.
