Answering buyer questions
What is this?
When RideAuction has switched unit questions on, dealers can ask questions about your units. Answer or decline them in Sell → Buyer questions before the cut-off. RideAuction reviews every answer before it is published as a numbered Seller clarification; if your dealership is an active Trusted Dealer, your answers and corrections are published straight away (RideAuction can still hide one).
How does it work?
- Current availability: unit questions are built, but RideAuction switches them on only after its legal counsel approves the Q&A terms. While they are off, the Questions & Seller Clarifications tab explains that questions are unavailable and offers no question or answer form and Sell → Buyer questions says “Buyer questions are not available yet”; buyers rely on your listing, disclosures and condition report.
- Anonymity: you see the asker only as “A RideAuction dealer”; buyers see your dealership as “RideAuction Verified Dealer”. Do not name your dealership, its address or staff, or share contact details or links — such an answer is refused with the reason, never edited.
- Timing: answer or decline by 6 hours before the lot’s scheduled close. RideAuction must publish by 2 hours before. For a unit in a 60-minute auction, answering and publication close when its bidding opens; the question card shows that time. A question you do not answer in time is never published, and the asking dealer is told it was not answered. RideAuction privately tracks how often sellers respond.
- Answer the unit facts only: no price, reserve, Max Bid or terms, and no deals outside RideAuction. Decline with a standard reason when the question is already covered by your disclosures, needs an inspection, is not something you know, or is about price or terms — only the asker sees the reason.
- Review: RideAuction approves your answer, returns it with what to change, or rejects it. Approved answers are published with the question as “Seller clarification #N” for every eligible dealer and become part of your disclosure record for that unit (they matter in any dispute).
- Important (material) answers: if your answer changes or contradicts what you disclosed (for example damage you had not mentioned), RideAuction publishes it through its material-change process: a recorded reason, confirmation and a fresh security check. The lot shows “Updated after publication” and bidders and watchers are notified. Bids already placed remain binding.
- Corrections: a published answer is never edited. To fix it, use “Correct this clarification” — it is reviewed and published as a new numbered clarification, and the original stays as it was.
- Units RideAuction prepared for you: questions about the unit itself still come to you — RideAuction relays them and never states facts about your unit on your behalf. RideAuction may answer platform or process questions (for example how pickup works).
What do I need to do?
- Open Sell → Buyer questions (the badge shows how many are waiting).
- Answer clearly about the unit, or decline with the reason that fits.
- If RideAuction returns an answer, read what to change and answer again before the cut-off.
What happens next?
Clear, honest answers help your units sell and protect you in a dispute. If something in your disclosures was wrong, say so in the answer.

- Asking the seller a questionWhen RideAuction has switched unit questions on, signed-in buying staff can ask the seller a question from a lot page. RideAuction reviews each answer (a Trusted Dealer seller’s answers are published straight away); published answers become numbered Seller clarifications that every eligible dealer sees.
- Condition ReportStep 4 of Submit Units: your dealership’s Condition Report — your disclosures about the unit, any inspection you already have, its documents and photos of the issues you disclosed. Buyers rely on it.
