Reading an auction page

What is this?

An auction page is built for browsing units and bidding: a compact header with one live countdown, then Units · Map · How auctions work · Buyer rules for this auction, the Sale Lights strip, the filters and the units.

How does it work?

  • The auction-specific buyer rules and fee review use its effective approved versions. An audited correction may replace sale fees only before opening and before any buyer commitment; original scheduling evidence is kept. Review the exact buyer and processing fees before accepting the agreement. Seller sale fees appear in the effective rules; Reserve Fee commitments stay separate and retain their accepted terms.
  • Always review Buyer rules for this auction before bidding. An already scheduled auction can retain an earlier fee version that differs from current general Help examples. Its exact frozen fee schedule and bidding agreement govern that auction; a later standard price does not reprice existing commitments.
  • The auction and map quick-view drawers use the same bidding agreement as the full unit page. Review and accept the current event’s frozen rules and fees when asked. If that agreement cannot be verified, open the full unit page or retry loading it; the drawer does not bypass the agreement.
  • If several dealers bid on the same unit together, the server accepts them in order and checks each against the latest minimum. Clicking first on your phone does not guarantee your bid is accepted first. An equal manual bid may be refused after another bid is accepted; review the updated amount before bidding again. Equal Max Bids give priority to the maximum accepted earlier. If your connection times out, check the current bid and your activity before trying again; a timeout does not prove your bid failed.
  • The raised progress timeline is centred in the header between the auction details and countdown on wide screens, with Preview opens, Bidding opens and Lots start closing dates; it stacks on narrower screens. The header shows the auction’s photo, name, status (Upcoming, Preview, Live, Closing, Paused, Completed), where the units are, how many there are and one countdown. “View details” opens the full schedule (preview, bidding opens, first and last lot close), your time zone and the brochure.
  • The countdown changes colour as the moment nears. Before bidding: blue, then amber within 24 hours, then orange within the hour (“Bidding opens in”). While live: green, amber when the next lot closes within 30 minutes, red within 5 minutes (“Next lot closes in”). It follows the lot that closes next — each unit card still shows its own closing time and clock, and a late bid can extend only that lot.
  • Units (N) is the list; Map shows the same units on the auction map with the same filters, where a selected unit offers “Place bid”. “How auctions work” opens the buyer guide; “Buyer rules for this auction” opens the exact fees, bid steps, Max Bid / Jump The Bid, reserve and timing rules fixed for this auction when it was scheduled.
  • The Sale Lights strip counts the units under each light (Inspected, Disclosures apply, Seller reported, Ownership documents pending). Where the units differ, a light is a filter: select it to show only those units, select it again to clear.
  • When a Regular or 60-Minute auction is accepting bids, the site header offers a Live auction button to open the current live auction from other pages. The button is hidden inside that same auction room. On a multi-unit lot page, the auction name and Previous · Auction lineup · current lot position · Next controls share one compact row. The current position is highlighted in green and shows the place in the visible lineup, such as “Lot 2 / 8 units.”
  • Your unit on the photo marks units your dealership is selling. Compact condition pills on the photo retain inspection, material-disclosure and ownership warnings; their information button explains the status, and the unit page has the full report. Prices, closing dates and action buttons line up across each row of cards. Select View unit to open a preview unit, or View results after it closes. The closing date appears once below the price; the footer shows the unit’s status and, while bidding is open, its live countdown.
  • While bidding is live, the Live activity sidebar appears beside the units (phones: the bar at the bottom) and eligible open unit cards offer Place Bid beside the server-calculated minimum increase (not a fee). The first bid respects the starting minimum without showing a false increase. Sign in or get approved when prompted; sellers only view their own units. Place Bid opens the lot’s quick view — the same bidding panel as the lot page. A genuinely new accepted bid briefly animates only the changed unit price; recovered history and reconnect snapshots do not replay it, and reduced motion uses a static tint.

What do I need to do?

  • Use the filters and the Sale Lights strip to narrow the lineup, then open a unit or its quick view to bid.
  • Check “Buyer rules for this auction” once before your first bid in an auction.

What happens next?

When bidding opens the page switches to live mode on its own; when every lot has closed it shows the results.
