Review a unit before bidding

What is this?

Review compact photos and five flat tabs — Unit Details, RideAI Insights, Seller Disclosures, Sale Light and Questions & Seller Clarifications — beside the existing bidding controls.

How does it work?

  • The Auction schedule beside the photos shows when preview opens, when bidding opens and when this lot closes, in your time, with the current step marked Now. Landscape photos fill the frame; choose Enlarge to see the whole original photo. Use the compact auction navigation to move between lots. Select a thumbnail, swipe the main photo, or focus it and use Left/Right, Home or End. The selected thumbnail is outlined. The gallery shows complete photographs on a neutral background, with all available photos in one compact thumbnail strip below it. Scroll the strip horizontally to reach more thumbnails, or select View all photos to open the full-screen viewer. Selecting a photo keeps its thumbnail in view. Enlarge opens the selected photo in that viewer; Left/Right, Home/End, thumbnails and horizontal swipes change photos. Close or Escape returns to the same selected photo on the unit page. Open original photo opens the unchanged authorized file in a new tab. Small images are not enlarged excessively; portrait photos keep their full height. An unavailable photo never proves condition.
  • Unit Details contains the snapshot specifications, location, seller-reported keys and ownership, and any RideAuction inspection report. Seller Disclosures contains the selling dealer statements and dealer-provided inspection documents; these are not a RideAuction inspection.
  • RideAI Insights is the second tab (links to #ai-notes and #rideai-insights both open it). It is a short, plain-language summary of the seller’s disclosures, the unit’s recorded details and, where one exists, an approved RideAuction condition report, with a strip of key facts copied by RideAuction from the unit record. A small label in the card footer says how this note was written: “Automatic summary” means RideAuction’s rule-based writer composed it; “AI-written note, checked against recorded facts by Ride” means Claude (an AI language model) wrote it and a second Claude check compared it with the unit’s records before it was shown. Either way it is not an inspection, so it may leave things out and it is not advice, a verification or a guarantee. It reads as a few short paragraphs about the unit, its condition and its ownership. Underneath, a compact light-red panel headed “Before You Place a Bid” appears only when something material is on record — for example no odometer or hour reading, known damage or mechanical problems, missing parts, salvage, rebuilt or non-repairable branding, a lien that is declared or uncertain, or disclosures that contradict each other. Related points are combined, the key wording is underlined, and the panel has a warning icon and a heading (never colour alone) and links to the place that holds the detail. If the panel is not shown, that is not a statement that the unit has no problems. A closing paragraph suggests what to review. A small line at the bottom says the condition information is supplied by the selling dealership and is not an independent inspection or guarantee. On an unreserved auction lot only, a final bold line says the item is “Unreserved” and sells “As-Is, Where-Is” to the highest bidder. RideAI Insights has no source badges: the full evidence, and where each statement comes from, stays in Unit Details, Seller Disclosures and the Sale Light. Not having a RideAuction inspection is not itself a warning; the panel mentions an inspection only when one is required for the listing and is missing, or when the seller says one was done but no report is on file. The note never states prices or the amount of a private reserve. Dealers who may see sale prices can also find a compact “Canadian Market Insight” box under the note (see “RideAI Insights and Canadian Market Insight”). If the note is not ready, was not written, or cannot be loaded, the tab stays and says so: “AI Notes are not available for this unit yet. Read the seller disclosures, Sale Light and condition report.” A note that is behind new information is not shown; it is rewritten shortly afterwards. RideAI Insights is shown to the same people who can read the seller disclosures on that unit.
  • Sale Light is the fourth tab, after Seller Disclosures. It contains the designation, actual inspection provenance, material conditions, ownership-document status, seller notes, explanations and Help links. Seller reported does not mean independently inspected or certified. The detailed panel is not above the tabs.
  • Questions & Seller Clarifications is the fifth tab and uses the existing moderated unit questions. Eligible signed-in dealers can ask only when the server permits it. If questions are unavailable or empty, the tab explains that state; no extra question channel is created. RideAI Insights links to this tab only when questions are available; otherwise it shows the same unavailable or sign-in wording.
  • The tabs are flat: the selected tab has a blue underline and normal text colour, with no raised or shadowed buttons. Use Left/Right arrow keys, Home or End to move between tabs. Choosing a tab updates the page address, so the browser Back and Forward buttons step through the tabs you visited, and a link ending in #ai-notes, #disclosures, #sale-light or #questions opens that tab. Existing Sale Light, disclosure, condition-report and question links open the relevant tab. Switching tabs keeps a question you have typed. On small screens, scroll the tab row sideways to reach every label.
  • Source badges: on the Sale Light and the condition details, small green badges say where a statement comes from — Seller Reported, RideAuction Reported (facts RideAuction records itself, such as catalogue details and the ownership-documents status) or RideAuction Inspected (only from an approved RideAuction condition report). Green here only groups the source; it never means good condition or quality. A statement both the seller and the inspection cover can show two badges. A dealer-provided inspection is always Seller Reported.
  • Comparable RideAuction sales appear on a unit page only when eligible real sales exist. No comparable prices or sale results are invented.

What do I need to do?

  • Read the photos and all five tabs — including the RideAI Insights “Before You Place a Bid” panel, when it appears, and the detail it links to — before choosing Quick Bid, Max Auto-Bid or Jump The Bid.
  • The green Live auction header link appears only for a currently live, publicly visible event. It refreshes while the page is open and rechecks the destination when clicked. If the event ended, the link takes you to the auction list.

What happens next?

Review fees and the first-time agreement before bidding. After acceptance, Place Bid submits the displayed amount immediately; Fees & Terms remains available.
