RideAI Insights and Canadian Market Insight
What is this?
How a lot’s RideAI Insights are written (an automatic summary, or a note written by Claude and checked against the unit’s records), what the card shows, and how the Canadian Market Insight wholesale range is calculated and when it is shown.
How does it work?
- How a note is written: every unit first gets an “Automatic summary” composed by RideAuction’s rule-based writer from the seller’s disclosures, the recorded unit details and any approved RideAuction condition report. When RideAuction has switched Claude writing on, Claude (an AI language model by Anthropic) writes the note from the same records. A second, separate Claude check then reads the unit’s records and the note and lists any statement about this unit that the records do not support. If it finds one, the note is rewritten once and checked again; if it still does not pass, the automatic summary is shown instead. While Claude writing is off, every unit shows the automatic summary.
- What RideAuction controls, not the AI: the key facts under the title (year, type, location, odometer or hours when recorded, keys and branding) are copied by RideAuction straight from the unit record and the seller’s disclosures. The “Before You Place a Bid” panel, the UNRESERVED line, the reserve status, every price and the provenance line are also written by RideAuction and never by the AI. A missing odometer or hour reading is raised only when that meter applies to this unit and no reading is recorded; a meter the seller marked not applicable is never raised.
- The label: the footer of the card always says which kind you are reading — “Automatic summary” or “AI-written note, checked against recorded facts by Ride” (written by Claude) — and the date it was written, in your time zone. The exact model version is not shown. What Claude receives: the year, make, model, trim, type, usage, province, the condition and ownership answers, the Sale Light inputs and the seller’s own notes with contact details removed. It never receives the VIN, the seller’s or buyer’s identity, the reserve amount, internal notes or documents.
- Model background: a note written by Claude may include a short block labelled “Model background” about the make and model in general — its heritage and typical uses. It is general information about the model, not verification of this unit, and it is never used as evidence about this unit. The automatic summary has no model background.
- Disclosures, not inspections: RideAI Insights repeat what the seller declared and what an approved RideAuction condition report recorded. A note is not an inspection, a verification, advice or a guarantee, and it may leave things out. Read Seller Disclosures, the Sale Light and the condition report before bidding.
- Canadian Market Insight: dealers who may see RideAuction sale prices can see a compact card inside RideAI Insights. It is calculated by RideAuction (never by the AI) only from completed RideAuction sales of the same unit type, make and model within two model years, normally from the last 365 days. Branded or non-clear titles, known damage, non-running units (unless this unit is also non-running), very different usage, cancelled and test sales are left out; seasonal units are compared within the same season. When there are fewer than three suitable sales, the card says only “Insufficient Canadian market data for a reliable estimate.” — no figure is shown.
- Reading the figure: “Typical wholesale range” is the spread of the comparable sale prices (the middle half of them from 8 sales, otherwise lowest to highest), shown as a bar; “Median” is the middle sale price (not shown at Low confidence). Low confidence means 3–4 sales (range only); Medium means 5 or more; High needs 10 or more closely matched sales across several auctions and sellers with a tight spread. “Based on”, the period and the model years tell you how much evidence there is. Prices are the sale price as recorded, excluding buyer fees, seller fees, documentation fees and taxes, in Canadian dollars and unadjusted for mileage, province or season.
- Wholesale, not retail: the figure comes from completed dealer-to-dealer RideAuction sales. It is not a retail or asking price and is not a guide-book value (licensed guide values are not used). This unit’s final price may be higher or lower.
What do I need to do?
- Check the label in the card footer to know how the note was written, and read the full disclosures and report behind it.
- Use Canadian Market Insight as context only. Decide your own bid; the insight never sets, limits or guarantees any price, reserve, bid or settlement.
What happens next?
A note is written again only when the unit’s records change, before bidding opens; otherwise the saved note is reused. The insight is kept up to date automatically (it is recalculated when this unit’s records change and as new RideAuction sales complete). Neither appears differently to you because of your bids.

- Understanding RideAuction Sale LightsUnit detail and auction-specific views show a Sale Light: Inspected, Disclosures apply, Serious condition or Seller reported, plus Ownership documents pending when it applies. RideAuction derives it from the seller’s disclosures and its own inspection. It is information to read a unit quickly — not a guarantee.
- Condition reports and seller disclosuresA RideAuction condition report records what a RideAuction inspector observed. It sits next to the seller’s own disclosures and never replaces them. It is not a warranty or guarantee.
