Place Bid, Max Bid or Jump The Bid?
What is this?
Three ways to bid: the next minimum now, a private maximum RideAuction bids up to for you, or your whole amount at once.
How does it work?
- In Quick bidding, the Bidding and live-state row sits directly below the drawer heading. Reserve and Watch are beside the unit title; the star changes your watch list, never your bid.
- Before your first binding bid in an event, review the combined Auction Bidding Agreement, including Max Bids, public Jump Bids and large amounts, and select its single checkbox. RideAuction records the acceptance for your staff account, dealership, event and the frozen rules and fee versions. The same unchanged agreement is not repeated for later bids in that event; another event or a materially changed version requires a new review. Refreshing or signing in on another device does not erase the recorded acceptance.
- Quick Bid (also called Place Bid or Bid Now) — starts at the next minimum and submits the selected proposed amount after your first agreement. When no bids exist, this is the starting bid; otherwise it is the current bid plus the auction’s increment. Your deliberate click is the confirmation; the recorded combined consent also covers large amounts; eligibility, buying limits and server validation still apply.
- Quick Bid is the primary action and submits the displayed proposed amount. Rapid increments add to the current minimum and update both Proposed bid (CAD) and the Quick Bid label without submitting. Set Max Auto-Bid keeps your limit private; Jump The Bid makes the entered amount public immediately after current required consent. A leading dealer can raise their private maximum in the same controls.
- In the final two minutes, the panel shows one Place Bid button for the current server-provided minimum. Select it to submit that exact amount; the countdown itself never places a bid. If an extension moves the close beyond two minutes the normal controls return. If the bid amount changes before acceptance, RideAuction rejects it and shows the updated state; review before trying again.
- Open Fees & Terms for the fee summary. It is collapsed after remembered consent; first-time acceptance still includes the full fee review. The summary uses this auction’s frozen fee rules: bid amount, buyer fee, processing fee when applicable, total before tax and a note that provincial taxes appear on the invoice. For a Max Bid it estimates costs only if the maximum is reached; you may pay less. Use “Why?” beside Processing fee or the Auction Rules & Fees link to review details.
- Rapid increments add $100, $250, $500 or $1,000 to the current minimum. With a CA$8,300 minimum, +$100 proposes CA$8,400, +$250 proposes CA$8,550, +$500 proposes CA$8,800 and +$1K proposes CA$9,300. The selected shortcut is highlighted and the proposed amount and Quick Bid label update immediately; nothing is submitted until you choose an action. Auto Reset returns to the minimum. A new authoritative minimum resets an unsent proposal; an in-flight bid keeps its exact amount and cannot be edited or submitted twice. Invalid amounts must be corrected before submitting. If the final-window mobile shortcut quotes a different minimum from your edited proposal, it brings that proposal into view instead of submitting a different amount. Quick Bid follows the existing proxy/manual rules: in a proxy auction your selected amount is the limit and the engine bids only as much as needed. Set Max Auto-Bid is the explicit private-limit action; Jump The Bid makes the full amount public immediately. Required first-time or changed agreements remain enforced.
- Set Max Bid — your private limit. RideAuction bids for you only as much as needed to keep you in the lead, up to that limit. After you accept the event agreement, Max Bid changes submit directly when you select Set/Raise Max Bid, without repeated condition checkboxes or large-amount dialogs.
- Jump The Bid — your full entered amount becomes the public current bid immediately, unless another bidder’s earlier Max Bid is equal or higher and answers it.
- Every accepted bid is binding and cannot ordinarily be withdrawn: if you lead when the lot closes and the sale goes ahead, your dealership buys the unit and pays the auction’s buyer fee, the processing fee (CAD $185 when the unit needs title or registration documents) and applicable taxes.
- Accepted bids shows three recent entries; expand earlier bids for more. “Your bid” marks a historical personal bid, not a promise that you are leading now. Your current position is shown above.
- The bidding panel uses a compact Closes in countdown, with the exact closing time alongside it (wrapping only when space is limited). Final-minute, extension and closed messages remain distinct. On phones, the price, position, countdown and primary action come before the photos; the bottom bid bar links to the same controls. Review condition and material disclosures before confirming.
- If a photo cannot load, its frame explains the problem. Choose another thumbnail or refresh to retry; a missing image is not evidence of condition.
What do I need to do?
- On your first bid in an event, read the Auction Bidding Agreement and check the agreement box. Then select Agree & Place Bid or Agree & Set Max.
- After current mandatory agreements and combined bidding conditions are accepted, Quick Bid immediately submits the displayed proposed amount, at any point while bidding is open. There is no repeated confirmation popup.
- Use Proposed bid (CAD) to select an amount. Rapid increments update Quick Bid without placing a bid; Auto Reset returns to the current minimum. Max Auto-Bid and Jump The Bid remain separate actions using the entered amount. Review the numbers before each action. After combined consent, all bidding actions submit the displayed amount without another conditions dialog.
- If a submission times out or shows Unable to confirm, do not immediately repeat it. Refresh the lot and check your current standing/history first; contact support if the result remains unclear.
What happens next?
After acceptance, check the single current standing panel. Expand Bid receipt for the accepted action, amount and server acceptance time. An acceptance does not guarantee you still lead.
