Bidding holds and buying limits
What is this?
RideAuction can set buying limits for a dealership and can pause its bidding. Your existing bids and purchases are never changed by either.
How does it work?
- Before a bid, Max Bid, Bid Now, Jump The Bid, Buy Now purchase or post-auction offer is accepted — and when you accept a counter-offer or a seller accepts your offer — RideAuction adds your unpaid purchases and the lots you are currently winning to the new amount and checks it against your dealership’s limits.
- Limits can cover total buying exposure, the number of unpaid purchases, exposure in one auction, and the largest single bid or purchase (an offer counts like a bid).
- A hold pauses all new bids, Buy Now purchases and offers from your dealership until RideAuction releases it, and an offer of yours cannot be accepted while it lasts. Bids and Max Bids accepted before the hold keep working.
- The combined bidding consent covers large amounts without a repeated dialog. It never overrides a hold, buying limit, revoked authority or auction deadline.
What do I need to do?
- Open My buying limit to see your status, limits and what is in use.
- Pay outstanding purchases to free capacity; RideAuction records payments as they arrive.
- Contact RideAuction about a hold, or if you need a higher limit.
What happens next?
Once capacity is available or the hold is released, you can bid, buy and make offers again straight away.

- I can’t bidThe bidding panel always says why bidding is not possible right now.
- Due dates, part payments and overdueA purchase invoice issued under the updated policy is due in full 48 consecutive hours after it is issued, with the exact date and time printed on it. An older invoice keeps the terms it was issued with. A purchase is overdue only while money is still owed after the deadline.
