Responding to a dispute (sellers)

What is this?

When a buyer opens a dispute on your sale, you are notified and see the claim on the sale’s dispute page, with the date to respond by. Buyers can open disputes online only once RideAuction has published a dispute policy.

How does it work?

  • A dispute decision and a financial correction are separate audited steps. Continue to follow current release instructions; unavailable case information is not clearance to hand over a unit.
  • You see submitted claims only — never a buyer’s draft — and only the evidence the buyer shared with you. RideAuction’s internal notes are never shown.
  • Respond: say whether you accept the claim, accept part of it (with the amount you offer, if any), or dispute it, and explain why. Add photos, records or the disclosures you gave as evidence. You can send an updated response later; earlier ones stay on the record.
  • Attaching files: a PDF up to 25 MB, or a JPEG, PNG or WebP image up to 15 MB, one file with each note. If a file is refused, the reason shows next to it and your note stays — remove the file or choose another and send again; nothing is added twice.
  • RideAuction may ask either dealership for more evidence, and may order a post-sale dispute inspection of the unit. Your listing’s disclosures and the inspection before the sale are kept exactly as they were.
  • Decision: RideAuction records a finding and an outcome. A credit on the sale price, a cancellation (only while the unit is still with you) or a settlement adjustment is recorded on your sale and settlement statement. Once a unit has left you, the sale is never cancelled back into your inventory; any arrangement is documented instead.

What do I need to do?

  • Respond by the date shown on the case.
  • Add your evidence (photos, records, the disclosures you gave).

What happens next?

You are notified when RideAuction asks for something, orders an inspection, issues a decision or closes the case.
