How unsold units and offers work
What is this?
When a lot ends Reserve not met or No bids, the unit comes back to your Ride inventory and you choose what happens next. After the sale → Unsold & offers lists every unsold unit and every offer in one place.
How does it work?
- Reserve not met: bidding did not reach your private reserve. You see the highest bid; bidders are never named. No bids: nobody bid.
- The auction result, the bids and the photos stay on record exactly as they closed — nothing about the closed lot changes.
- RideAuction releases the unit from the auction automatically, usually within a minute: you can sell, edit or hide it in Ride as usual.
- Relist in another auction: a new submission is created with the unit’s condition, photos, starting bid, reserve and audience filled in. Change anything (including the location), then submit it for review. It links back to the earlier result.
- Open to offers: for 1–7 days (the offer window), eligible dealers can send offers. You never see which dealership made an offer (only “Dealer A / B”), and dealers never see your reserve.
- Accepting an offer is binding at the offered amount: the sale continues in Sales with the normal seller fee, invoice and settlement steps, and any other waiting offers on the unit are closed.
- Countering: your counter-offer must be higher than the offer. The dealer can accept it (a binding sale) or decline it. Declining an offer ends it.
- Accepting an offer or sending a counter-offer binds your dealership; if RideAuction turns on the selling acknowledgement, you first acknowledge the current published selling documents.
- Expiry: every offer ends when the offer window closes. Unsold & offers marks an offer “Expiring soon” when less than 12 hours are left. When a window closes without a sale, the unit needs your decision again.
- Keep in my Ride inventory withdraws the unit from RideAuction and ends the follow-up (it is listed under Withdrawn). You can still relist it later.
- Unsold & offers views: Needs attention (offers waiting for your answer, soonest expiry first, then units to decide), Open offers, Unsold units, Declined (with other offers that ended) and Withdrawn. The My listings badge counts what needs your attention.
What do I need to do?
- Open After the sale → Unsold & offers (or the unit’s own page, “What happens next”).
- For offers: accept, send a counter-offer (higher than the offer), or decline each one before the window closes.
- If the unit sells somewhere else while offers are open, close the offer window.
What happens next?
An accepted offer is a binding sale: it appears in Sales with the normal seller fee, invoice and settlement steps.
