What happens when an auction ends
What is this?
Each lot closes on its own. When bidding closes the page switches by itself to “Finalizing results”, then to the recorded result — you never need to refresh, and the page address keeps working afterwards.
How does it work?
- Each lot’s result is decided once, by RideAuction’s server, from its final accepted bids. A late bid that extends the close keeps the lot open until its new closing time; the result is only decided after that.
- When the countdown reaches zero the bid buttons disappear and the panel says “Finalizing results” while RideAuction records the result (usually a few seconds). No winner is shown until RideAuction has recorded it. Bids sent after the close are refused by the server, even from an old open page.
- Then the result appears in place: Sold (with the final price for dealers with buying access), Reserve not met or No bids. If you won, “You won” links to your purchase. The bid history stays on the page; verified dealership names stay visible where you were allowed to see them. Visitors who are not signed in see the outcome and an anonymous history only.
- When every lot of the auction has its result, live updates end on their own and the status says “Final results”. Opening the page later — from a bookmark, a notification or the auction list — shows the same final results; there is nothing to reconnect.
- 60-minute auctions: the end of Active bidding is not the end of the auction. The page says “Active bidding ended” while RideAuction decides the next step: a 15-minute Closing round for the top two dealerships, a 24-hour offer period when the reserve was not met, or the result. The auction is complete only when the result is recorded.
What do I need to do?
- Stay on the page or come back later: the result appears by itself.
- Buyers: open Units won (or After the Auction) for the invoice, payment, Bill of Sale and pickup steps.
- Sellers: open Units sold for the sale record and settlement.
What happens next?
Your purchase is under Purchases: RideAuction issues the invoice there — pay it by its due date — then choose delivery (RideAuction delivery or your own pickup). Ownership documents and the release follow on the same page.
