Photo upload tips
What is this?
Which photos and files work, how big they can be, what happens to location information, and what to do when one fails.
How does it work?
- Use JPEG, PNG or WebP photos up to 10 MB each (profile photos and logos up to 5 MB). On an iPhone, photos are converted to JPEG automatically when you choose them.
- Large photos are reduced in your browser before they are sent (to at most 2,400 pixels on the long side), so phone photos of any size work.
- Up to 20 photos at a time for listings and condition reports, 15 for shipment and unit photos, 10 for pickup and delivery photos.
- Take photos in good daylight, landscape for the whole unit and close-up for details and damage. Use the original photo rather than a screenshot.
- Location (GPS), camera details and other hidden information are removed from every photo when it is saved, and the photo is turned the right way up. Documents (PDFs and photos of documents) are kept exactly as you send them.
- Each photo uploads on its own. If one fails, the others are kept — choose Retry on the one that failed.
- If a file is refused, the reason shows next to it and anything you typed stays — remove the file or choose another and send again.
- Documents and evidence are stored exactly as you send them — never compressed or edited — so they stay a faithful record.
- Limits per file: photos up to 10 MB; profile photos and logos up to 5 MB; optional inspection material — a PDF up to 25 MB, or an inspection image up to 15 MB. Ownership, title, lien-discharge and registration papers are handled privately outside RideAuction. A unit can have up to 25 listing photos; the first is the main photo. A file over its limit is refused straight away with the limit named.
What do I need to do?
- Use “Take a photo” on a supported phone. “Choose picture” selects one mandatory identification picture; “Add photos” selects listing photos.
- If a photo fails, read the message on that photo and choose Retry, or Remove it and choose another.
What happens next?
Listing photos can be ordered and given a main photo. Mandatory identification pictures stay in their named odometer and VIN slots.

- Photos: what photos are required?Step 3 requires separate odometer and VIN pictures; Step 5 manages listing photos. The first listing photo is the main photo bidders see. Identification pictures never count as listing or optional condition evidence.
- How the Condition Report worksYour dealership’s Condition Report is your statement about the unit. A Trusted Dealer designation lets a complete unit be approved and placed automatically when you submit; it never replaces your disclosures or an independent inspection.
