Why is there a processing fee?
What is this?
The processing fee (CAD $185 under the current rules) covers RideAuction’s work to process your purchase: handling the transaction, coordinating the unit sale, the administrative steps, communication between buyers, sellers and owners, and the payment and banking-related processing.
How does it work?
- What it pays for: transaction processing, unit administration, coordination between the buyer and the seller, payment and banking handling, and the operational processing that turns a winning bid into a released unit.
- When it applies: under the current rules it is CAD $185 per purchased unit that needs title or registration documents (a title, a registration or an ownership permit), plus applicable taxes. Units that do not need title or registration documents have no processing fee.
- The seller states for each unit whether title or registration documents are required, and RideAuction reviews that answer before the unit is approved for auction. The lot page shows it under “Title / registration documents”.
- It is charged the same way whether you win at auction, use Buy Now or have a post-auction offer accepted: exactly once per unit, on its own invoice line, never hidden inside another fee.
- The amount is fixed for each auction when it is scheduled. A later change to the fee never changes a sale that already happened.
What do I need to do?
- Check the lot page before bidding: the bid review, Buy Now review and offer forms show the processing fee, the buyer fee and the total before tax.
- After the sale, check the processing fee line on your purchase and invoice. If a unit was marked as needing documents and you believe it does not, contact RideAuction before paying.
What happens next?
RideAuction processes the transaction, the administrative steps and the payment as part of the release. The unit is released once payment and the required checks are complete.

- Your purchase invoiceThe invoice is RideAuction’s official bill for a unit your dealership won: the winning bid, the buyer fee, the processing fee when the unit needs title or registration documents, and the taxes, with the total and the exact payment deadline (48 hours after the invoice is issued). One invoice can list several units you won at the same auction, each shown separately with its own VIN, price, fees and tax.
- How Buy Now worksSome units are offered at a fixed Buy Now price instead of bidding. The first eligible dealer who confirms Buy Now buys the unit — the purchase is binding.
- Post-auction offersA seller whose unit didn’t sell can accept offers for a few days; an accepted offer is a normal RideAuction purchase.
- What happens after I win?Your purchase has one page that shows every step — invoice, payment within 48 hours, Bill of Sale, pickup — and the button for the one thing you need to do next.
